Over the past three years, the New York Red Bulls have seen the likes of Matt Miazga move to Chelsea and Tyler Adams become the next hot prospect for the United States national team. Those two are just the latest in the Red Bulls Academy system that is arguably the best in the world.
And another name might be in that pipeline soon.
Sources tell Metro that Ben Mines, a 17-year old midfielder from Connecticut is likely to be the team’s next Homegrown product. The source said that Mines and the Red Bulls have already discussed the possibilities of a deal that would see the talented midfielder join the team next year.
Beyond the success of Miazga, now capped by the full national team as well as purchased this past offseason by English club Chelsea, the Red Bulls have produced a number of MLS caliber players. The aforementioned Adams as well as Sean Davis, Alex Muyl and Derrick Etienne have all seen a strong amount of minutes this year after being developed by the Academy.
As for Mines, he already has 13 appearances for the New York Red Bulls II over the past two years, playing as an amateur. The talented player is confident on the dribble and dynamic in his movement in the final-third under Red Bulls II head coach John Wolyniec.
