Source: Free agent WR David Nelson likely to sign with a new team soon

David Nelson might well be on an NFL roster soon sources tellMetro as several teams are eyeing the former New York Jets wide receiver.

The veteran Nelson is currently a free agent but three teams have reached out to him about signing. A league source said that among those teams are the Cincinnati Bengals and an NFC North team. Nelson has reportedly turned down both offers.

Nelson’s best seasons came in 2011 with the Buffalo Bills (61 catches, 658 receiving yards) and then in 2013 (36 catches, 423 yards) when he caught passes for the Jets and then-rookie quarterback Geno Smith.

Signed by the Bills in 2010 as an undrafted rookie free agent, Nelson is a big target wide receiver. He has good length, rises to the ball well and is a solid route-runner. Despite his solid production on the field, Nelson is perhaps best known for foundingI’mME, a charity with the stated mission to eradicate the global orphan crisis.
