Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn may be their top choice, but no decision has been made by the Jets organization as far as who their next head coach will be. On Thursday morning, Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com said in a radio interview on the ‘Dan Patrick Show’ that he believes that Quinn will be hired by the Jets and that the Seahawks defensive coordinator has already started reaching out to potential members of his coaching staff. But a team source tells Metro that no decision has been made on Quinn or any other head coach candidates. “The process is ongoing” the source said.
The team is not ready yet to make a decision, according to the source, and the process will continue for Quinn as well as all the other candidates.
Quinn is seen as one of the front runners for the position to replace Rex Ryan, the six-year head coach who twice led the Jets to the AFC Championship Game. But Ryan fell on hard times, failing to make the playoffs the past four seasons. Contrary to some social media buzz, Marvez did not report that Quinn was headed to the Jets. Even if the Jets were ready to offer the job to Quinn, they could not do so as the Seahawks are currently in the playoffs and that would run afoul of NFL rules. A league source did tell Metro that Quinn had a strong interview and that he is “a very solid candidate for the job.”
