St. Vincent made a guitar just for her

St. Vincent was getting tired of not having a guitar designed just for her — or other female rockers — so she went and designed her own.

“For me a guitar that is not too heavy is really important because I’m not a very big person,” she tells Guitar World. “I can’t even play a ’60s Strat or ’70s Les Paul. I would need to travel with a chiropractor on tour in order to play those guitars. It’s not that those aren’t great guitars, but they render themselves impractical and unfunctional for a person like me because of their weight.”

So he teamed up with manufacturer Ernie Ball for a prototype of a new ax designed for her slight frame. The design is lighter and shaped differently than standard electric guitars that provides, as she puts it, “room for a breast or two.” So there you go.
