Staten Island police officer fatally shoots himself: NYPD

An NYPD police officer fatally shot himself inside his Staten Island home early Tuesday, police saidaccording to the New York Daily News.

The 31-year-old officer, who has not yet been identified, allegedly shot himself in the neck around 5 a.m. at his Arden Heights home.

He was taken to Staten Island University Hospital South and was pronounced dead around 5:30 a.m.
