According to a video shared Saturday by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees on its Facebook page, a Syrian boy, identified as Aslan, and his dog Rose traveled from Damascus to the Greek island of Lesbos among the waves of refugees currently seeking asylum in Europe, the New York Post reported. Aslan says people have questioned him about bringing the puppy, given that he only carried one bag for himself so that he could also handle the dog’s crate.
“I love my dog. I need him,” the teen said in English in the video.

In the video, he holds Rose, gives the pup water and secures the dog inside a portable carrying crate before continuing along with the other refugees.
