Ted Cruz campaign commercial stars a softcore porn actress

Ted Cruz’s campaign has removed one of its commercials attacking Marco Rubio after it was revealed one of the actresses involved had worked as a softcore porn actress, BuzzFeed News reported.

The ad revolved around a group therapy session for voters who felt betrayed by Marco Rubio. The actress in question, Amy Lindsay, tells one grieving member “Maybe you should vote for more than just a pretty face next time.”

Lindsay has reportedly starred in several soft core porn films and told BuzzFeed she assumed the campaign knew about her past.

“Prior to the Cruz campaign pulling the ad, Lindsay told BuzzFeed News in a phone interview on Thursday that she’s a Christian conservative and a Republican. While she emphasized that she did not do hardcore porn and that she also appeared in non-erotic films, Lindsay said she thinks it is ‘cool’ that an actor who has appeared in softcore porn could also appear in Cruz’s ad.” BuzzFeed wrote.

After the campaign took down the ad Lindsay tweeted her disappointment.

Rick Tyler, a representative from the campaign explained to Vice News that it was the production company’s fault, and that Lindsay was cast through an open casting call.

“Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the production company,” Tyler told Vice. “Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad.”
