The cheapest bars to keep you solvent during the holidays

With Christmas lights already popping up, I’m reminded of all the shopping I need to do and the money I’ll spend during the holiday season. Since staying in isn’t an option for me, I’m revisiting some wonderful bars that will actually keep my tab low. Go out tonight and still have money left over for that purse your mom has been talking about.

B Side
204 Ave. B, Alphabet City

B Side always delivers, with $3-$4 beers and half-price well drinks plus additional savings on select brews from 3-8 p.m. daily. The front bar is small but there is a larger room in the back that has a foosball table. It’s one of those places that’s as comfortable as your own living room and never seems to get overly crowded. Most patrons take advantage of the $5 PBR and whiskey deal. Why not?

International Bar
120 ½ First Ave., East Village

Every day, bask in the glory of $3-$4 beers and $4 well drinks. Small, cheap, dark and friendly. Enough said. International is a perfect hole-in-the-wall bar for an affordable night of drinking, interesting conversation and a great crowd. As a bonus you can relax on the backyard patio (until 10 p.m.). Leave your tie at home.

1020 Bar
1020 Amsterdam Ave., Morningside Heights

For those who like bar games, look no further. 1020 offers cheap drinks, a pool table and a dartboard. Columbia students flock here for daily deals like $2-$3 beers and $4-$5 well drinks. There are always affordable drinks on the menu and friendly bartenders. This is a no-frills corner neighborhood bar with booth seating and awesome prices. They don’t serve food but you can order in.
