Pottery Barn has been killing it with its recent designer collaborations — we’re still obsessed with our Emily & Meritt gold polka dot sheets — but this time the home-furnishings brand knocked it out the park. For its first global collaboration, Pottery Barn teamed up with one of India’s biggest fashion designers, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, to bring his bohemian spirit to home decor. A Bollywood favorite, Mukherjee is known for gorgeous creations that blend traditional techniques with modern romance: bold florals, gold embellishments, rich fabrics and intricate embroidery are his signatures. But anyone who’s been to one of the designer’s exceptionally curated, gallery-like boutiques, where the walls are lined with vintage portraits and antique plates, knows his aesthetic translates perfectly off the racks, too. The Pottery Barn design teamwitnessed this first hand last June when they randomly strolled into the Sabyasachi flagship in Mumbai while on a sourcing a trip to India. “We have never spent that amount of time in one store ever in any of our trips,” said Monica Bhargava, executive vice president of Pottery Barn, during a dinner in NYC celebrating the launch. “It was such a transformative experience. That magic that Sabyasachi has created is breathtaking. The nine of us couldn’t stop photographing every wall.”
That magic, of course, led to the collaboration launching today at potterybarn.com and in stores Nov. 1. The Sabyasachi for Pottery Barn holiday collection includes more than 50 pieces, such as floral plates, brocade and embroidered pillows, block-printed reversible quilts and tufted rugs that range in prices $14.50-$1,799.
