Two elderly men broke out of their nursing home to attend a yearly German music festival. But, it wasn’t just any ol’ festival — they pulled an escape act for the sake of a heavy metal concert.
The German news site Deutsche Welle reported that the older gentlemen went to the 29th annual Wacken Open Air, which took place from August 2 to August 4 and attracted a crowd of nearly 75,000 fans to the village of Wacken.
Headline acts included metal bands like Hatebreed, In Flames and Running Wild.
After the nursing home called German authorities, they located the two men on festival grounds. If you’re wondering what time it was, reports say the concert-goers were found at 3:00 a.m. (casual).
“They obviously liked the metal festival,” a police spokeswoman said. “The care home quickly organized a return transport after police picked them up.”
The German music festival already came out with a trailer for next year’s 30th anniversary event, and over 50,000 tickets have reportedly been sold as of today.

Wacken Open Air 2019 will take place from August 1 to August 3, 2019, and who knows, maybe these older metalheads will make a run for it again.
Wacken Open Air really does welcome the oldest rockers in the game. The official Twitter account for the German music festival even made a point of noting that there’s “no discrimination of seniors.”
