How to Celebrate Massachusetts Beer Week

Beer Week

A wise man once said, “a fine beer may be judged with only one sip… but it’s better to be thoroughly sure.” After all, is there anything better than beer? The Massachusetts Brewers Guild doesn’t think so, and they’ve dedicated a whole week to Mass-brewed drafts. Here’s our guide of the best ways to celebrate Massachusetts Beer Week.

5 ways to celebrate Mass Beer Week

Harpoon Board Game Night

Are you looking for a chill celebration night in Boston? Head over to Harpoon Brewery for their Board Game Night. They’re celebrating Beer Week with classic board games paired with their classic beers. This event isn’t ticketed. The only thing you need to bring is some friends and a love of beer. As a bonus, Harpoon is raffling off tickets for their St. Patty’s Celebration on March 8!

March 5, 5 p.m.-8 p.m., Harpoon Brewery, 306 Northern Ave., Boston, harpoonbrewery.com

Fat Tuesday Chef Dinner Series at Remnant Brewery

Maybe you prefer a three-course meal along with your beer? Remnant Brewery is continuing their Fat Tuesday Chef Dinner Series, featuring a plated meal and beer pairings. Remnant Brewery is also bringing out some exclusive beers that are only available for this dinner. Buy your tickets now!

The Barking Crab & Ipswich Brewery Luau Party

The local seafood restaurant is collaborating with the Ipswich Brewery to celebrate the latter’s new Pina-Colada inspired IPA. On March 6, The Barking Crab and the Ipswich Brewery invite Bostonians to join them for their Mid-Winter Shucking Good Luau Party. Throw on your best Hawaiian shirt and be one of the first to taste the newest variation on the brewery’s “Ipswich 1620” beer. But wait, there’s more! Guests can sip nine Ipswich classics in a nine-tap takeover, as well as creative “beer-tails.” While you sip, dance along to some island-inspired tunes by PanNeubean Steel, or shimmy under a beer can limbo to win Ipswich Brewery prizes! The Ipswich Brewery founders will be around to chat with guests about what’s brewing next.

March 6, 6 p.m.-11 p.m., The Barking Crab, 88 Sleeper St., Boston, barkingcrab.com

An Evening of Beer and Food Pairings

Craft beers are the perfect accompaniment to food beyond just pizza and burgers. Enjoy a beer and small plate dinner at Powisset Farm with session brewer, Zelus Beer Company. Chef and cookbook author Leigh Belanger is crafting savory and sweet plates to compliment the beer flights, and explaining why the two belong together.

Mass Brewers Guild Winter Classic

Mass Beer Week closes out with the Winter Classic charity hockey game. Brewers trade their rubber boots for hockey skates and lace up to raise money for the Mass Brewers Guild. MBG is the state’s trade association that protects the interests of craft brewers across the Commonwealth, and organizes Mass Beer Week. Family, friends and beer fans can cheer on their favorite players and those who are 21+ can enjoy a beer tasting from the stands. Breweries featured at the event include, Bay State Brewing Co., Greater Good Imperial Ales, Salt Box Kitchen, Stone Cow Brewing Co., Tree House Brewing Co., Vanished Valley Brewing Co., Wachusett Brewing Co., Widowmaker Brewing Co. and Wormtown Brewery.
