Some of Hollywood’s biggest stars have shipped up to Boston in recent months to film scenes for their latest projects. Now you can add Denzel Washington to the list.
According to the Boston Globe, director Antoine Fuqua’s “Equalizer 2,” which stars the Oscar-winning actor, has been filming in the South End. The movie is a sequel to the 2014 flick “The Equalizer,” an action thriller that was shot in the Boston area as well.
Slated to hit theaters next fall, the franchise’s latest installment will likely feature an appearance by Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen. The Globe reports that the South End restaurant hinted at the production taking over the jazz brunch hotspot in an email to customers.
Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen also shared a post on Facebook about “Equalizer 2,” accompanied by a collage featuring photos of Washington and the restaurant.
While there’s been little noise about Washington’s trip to the Hub, a few lucky fans on social media claim to have spotted the actor around town.
Was able to meet Denzel Washington today for a movie he’s filming on my street in Boston. Guy has huge hands. #Equalizer2

Washington’s new movie isn’t the only production to hit the South End this year. In August, Amy Schumer’s upcoming comedy “I Feel Pretty” set up shop in the neighborhood before taking filming to other parts of Massachusetts.
The “X-Men” spin-off flick “New Mutants” also recently shot in the Boston area. The production brought “Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams and “Stranger Things” actors Charlie Heaton and Natalia Dyer to the Bay State. The trio was spotted dining out in the North End with friends at North Square Oyster.
