A slew of stars are coming to town for the Forbes Under 30 Summit, which returns to Boston Oct. 1-4.
The festivities kick off on Sunday with a music festival at City Hall Plaza, featuring performances by Grammy-winning DJ Zedd, singer-songwriter Skylar Grey and rapper Playboi Carti.
“I’m really excited to be coming to Boston,” Grey tells Metro. “That’s where my sister lives, so I get to see her, and do this show for Forbes.”
Although the Grammy-nominated artist has spent some time in the Hub thanks to her sibling, she hasn’t gotten the chance to explore the city much over the years. The singer admits that most of her knowledge of Boston comes from her favorite movie starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.
“I’ve walked around downtown. I came to visit my sister quite a few times,” Grey says. “Honestly, the most I know about Boston is from the movie ‘Good Will Hunting.'”
Fans should expect a more mature set from Grey, as she believes her music has evolved over the years.
“I think I’ve grown up a lot in the past couple of years, and I’ve evolved as a human,” she says. “All of my music reflects my real life. A lot of the music that I’m writing these days lyrically talks about these realizations and things that have made me grow recently.”
The summit, which celebrates young entrepreneurs and business leaders, will take over Boston with four days of discussions, competitions and other activities. In addition to the concert, a food festival and cook-off will keep the party going on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Several high-profile musicians, actors, athletes and more are expected to attend this year’s summit. Notable guest speakers include actor and entrepreneur Ashton Kutcher, rapper Kendrick Lamar, Olympian and Needham native Aly Raisman, model Karlie Kloss, comedian T.J. Miller, “Billions” star Asia Kate Dillon, “Westworld” actress Evan Rachel Wood and world champion skier Lindsey Vonn.
