McDonald’s Szechuan sauce made its long-awaited return this past weekend, but not everyone was happy with how things went down.
Many eager “Rick & Morty” fans and interested foodies who hoped to get their hands on the limited edition dipping sauce were met with extremely long lines at locations around the country, which meant supplies ran out pretty quickly. Let’s just fans weren’t exactly happy with how the limited-batch promotion was run, as they took to social media to express their anger and disappointment.
Waited over 4 hours . no sauce. No poster. I git a sticker and it didn’t even have the sauce on it.. it said mustard… pic.twitter.com/j3R1dKWKvU

Following Saturday’s fiasco, McDonald’s announced that it will bring back its Szechuan sauce once again in order to satisfy fans who didn’t get a chance to try it. The restaurant chain tweeted out an apology calling the situation “not cool,” along with news that the dipping sauce will be back this winter.
“Szechuan sauce is coming back once again this winter,” McDonald’s revealed in the tweet. “And instead of being a one-day-only and limited to select restaurants, we’re bringing more – a lot more – so that any fan who’s willing to do whatever it takes for Szechuan sauce will only have to ask for it at a nearby McDonald’s.”
You spoke. We’ve listened. Lots more #SzechuanSauce and locations. Details soon. And that’s the wayyy the news goes! pic.twitter.com/ooIrbZBsOw

While McDonald’s has yet to release an exact date for the return of it’s Szechuan sauce, the recent news should come as music to the ears of “Rick & Morty” fans. The sauce, which was originally a promotional offering that coincided with the release of “Mulan” in 1998, has flown back on people’s radars thanks to jokes about it on the popular Adult Swim animated series.
