Young people’s lack of knowledge about HIV/AIDS has the potential to set back efforts to eradicate the disease According to a recent survey of American teenagers between ages 12 and 17, 1 in 3 didn’t know HIV was sexually transmitted, and 99 percent don’t think they are at risk of contracting the virus. In the new documentary “It’s Not Over,” filmmaker Andrew Jenks follows three young people fighting very different battles with the disease: Sarang lives as an openly gay man with HIV in India, where homosexuality is outlawed; Lucky, who mentors youths in South Africa; and U.S. college student Paige, an activist who was born HIV positive.
