Tickets up for New York cyclists

The NYPD has handed out more than 800 citations to cyclists this year, according to Deputy Inspector Jessica Corey, who spoke about the numbers during a Tuesday night community board meeting, according to DNAinfo.

Corey said pedestrians and cyclists have collided 35 times this year in Central Park, causing two pedestrian deaths.

NYPD stats reported in the New York Post showed there were 195 summons written during the same time frame last year.
