Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer split after nine years

Let’s officially declare this the year that love died.

Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer are calling it quits after nine years of marriage. The “Great Gatsby” actor and celeb jewelry designer met and began dating in 2003, and wed four years later — a classy, tried and true courtship by Hollywood standards, if we do say so ourselves. Maguire and Meyer have two children together, 9-year-old Ruby and 7-year-old Otis. But we guess the old saying is true: nothing lasts forever.

The couple released a joint statement to People, who broke the news of their separation, “After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple. As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship.” First Brangelina and now this. Is there any hope for love?
