One of Spanish-language television’s most prolific stars will get a stretch of Broadway named after him.
Mario Luis Kreutzberger — better known to millions of Latino viewers as Don Francisco — will get a stretch New York City’s most famous roadway near 168th Street in Washington Heights.

While based in Florida, Kreutzberger moved to New York City in his 20s to become a tailor at the behest of his father, a Holocaust survivor.

Univision announced “Sábado Gigante” would end its 53-year run on Sept. 19. In 2012, the Guinness Book of World Records named it the longest-running TV variety show, with its original broadcasts in his homeland of Chile back in 1962.
Local City Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez introduced the street renaming bill to honor Kreutzberger, reported El Diario La Prensa.
