A mysterious sonic boom hit New Jersey this afternoon.
According to media reports, a sonic boom shook southern New Jersey and could be felt in parts of Long Island.
It is still unclear what caused the sonic boom, but some speculated initially it was an earthquake, while others say it was military aircraft that caused the tremors.

People took to Twitter to speculate on what they believe was the cause of the sonic boom. While there were some who expressed serious theories of the incident, others chose to take a humorous route, of course.
Dan Skeldon, Meteorologist
That’s why I’m inclined to make an educated guess and say that it was military exercises/sonic boom this time too. But I’m speculating.
