Two were killed in separate shootings in Chelsea this weekend, according to authorities.
A 35-year-old woman was killed inside a Shawmut Street home from what appears to be a stray bullet. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office has said the woman was not the intended target of the shooting. Two groups, according to that office, were “engaged in conflict” outside when someone drew a gun and fired.
The victim was not the intended target of that shooting, which occurred around midnight Saturday, according to police.
Police have released surveillance stills of two individuals they believe are connected to the shooting. Authorities are encouraging anyone with any information regarding the shooting to contact police.
“The evidence thus far suggests she was completely unconnected to the violence that took her life,” said Suffolk DA Daniel F. Conley through a statement. “This is a crime of terrible violence that can be solved with the public’s help.”
“Someone out there has specific information on what happened on Shawmut Street and who was involved,” Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes said. “We urge anyone with that knowledge to come forward.”
Another fatal shooting took the life of a 36-year-old man at the French Club, located at 242 Spencer Ave around 1:20 a.m. Saturday. Authorities believe an argument spiraled out of control arose inside the club and eventually ended in gunfire.
