UN General Assembly affecting NYC Ferry, bus service

Due to the UN General Assembly, some NYC Ferry routes have been suspended, while there are service changes on NYC buses.

New Yorkers have already been warned to expect more gridlock alert days than usual now that the UN General Assembly is underway. But the annual United Nations summit is also affecting service on NYC buses and the NYC Ferry as well.

The NYC Ferry’s 34th Street landing, which is a primary stop for those routes and a transfer hub to other NYC Ferry routes, is just blocks from the UN headquarters, which stretches along First Avenue from East 42nd Street to East 48th Street.

Passengers will face “potential delays and/or cancellations on the Astoria, Soundview, East River and the Lower East Side NYC Ferry routes from Tuesday, Sept. 25 through Friday, Oct. 5,” the service said, adding that riders will be updated via the app or ferry.nyc

The 73rd UN General Assembly continues through Monday, Oct. 1. All 193 United Nation member states are in attendance of the summit, which “is the main deliberative, policymaking and representative organ of the UN,” its website states.
