The doctors of Grey’s Anatomy have treated and cured numerous conditions over the show’s successful 14 seasons, but they’ve also caused one. Unfortunately there’s no word yet for the withdrawal you go through while you’re waiting for the next season of the medical drama to air on ABC. For now, settle back with Grey’s Anatomy season 14 on Netflix to rewatch old episodes and let us catch you up on everything you can expect from Grey’s Anatomy season 15.
It’s only natural to feel uncertain about the future of the show. Shonda Rhimes is letting go of arguably her most well-known, if not most successful, series. So where is the new lead of the Grey’s cast and crew taking it? Here’s what you need to know.
What to expect from Grey’s Anatomy season 15
First of all, that new head of Grey’s is actually, well, old-school Grey’s. The new Grey’s Anatomy showrunner, Krista Vernnoff, was head writer for the series as an executive producer during the first seven seasons. That means she’s intimately familiar with what made you fall in love with the characters and the drama in the first place.
Other than that, everyone is staying mum for now. Ellen Pompeo did open about about how the producers are thinking about how the entire series will end, though she says there’s still some time to go. “We’re starting to think about how you would end a show this iconic. How do you end it? But we’re not there yet. We’re going to focus on season 15. We just take it one season at a time,” she revealed. Metro will update you if anyone on the cast or crew starts getting chatty about some plot points.
Grey’s Anatomy season 15 cast
In fact, the biggest changes you can expect are in the cast. You will, of course, be seeing some familiar faces back in the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Ellen Pompeo signed a 2-year agreement (for season 15 and the potential season 16) and negotiated her way to a pretty sweet paycheck per episode, so Meredith Grey is most definitely in the picture. Joining her in surgery and plenty of drama will be Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey), Justin Chambers (Alex Karev), James Pickens Jr (Richard Webber), Jesse Williams (Jackson Avery), Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt), Camilla Luddington (Jo Wilson), Caterina Scorsone (Amelia Shepherd), Kelly McCreary (Maggie Pierce) and Giacomo Gianniotti (Andrew DeLuca).
If you saw season 14, you already said goodbye to two long-standing cast members: Jessica Capshaw (Arizona Robbins) and Sarah Drew (April Kepner). Both characters were given vague, but potentially happy futures, as they leave the small screen on the ABC hit. But you will be seeing more of Kim Raver (Teddy Altman), who’s been added to the list of series regulars going into the upcoming season. You’ll also get plenty of screen time from Nashville’s Chris Carmack as a new ortho surgeon on staff.
