Second Avenue was closed by the fire department as authorities worked to extinguish a blaze near East 94th Street.
A three-alarm blaze broke out around 6:15 a.m. on Thursday on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, leading to the closure of Second Avenue, which was already semi-obstructed by the ongoing subway construction under the street, ABC7 reported.
The fire started in the basement of a building on Second Avenue and extended up the walls in the mixed-occupancy building, authorities said toNBC4.

There have been no reported injuries, but Second Avenue remained closed between East 92nd and East 96thstreets, ABC7 added.
