The next head coach of the United States national team may not be known for quite some time, even as the interim head coach should be announced by US Soccer in the next few days. But the fact that the United States might not name their head coach till after next summer’s World Cup hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from turning.
And turn it does. Churn in fact.
Wagering site BovadaLV has the odds on the upcoming race to lead the Red, White and Blue to the 2022 World Cup. These odds, exclusively obtained by Metro, show a tight race with two international head coaches leading the way.
Laurent Blanc, a former French international and a World Cup winner with an extensive background in managing from Ligue 1, is the favorite according to BovadaLV. After the Frenchman comes Sam Allardyce, who has managed the English national team as well as numerous clubs in the English Premier League.

Of note is that Tab Ramos, believed to be the prohibitive favorite for the interim job, is just behind Blanc and Allardyce. In the next position is Sporting KC head coach Peter Vermes, who like Ramos is a former United States international. Juan Carlos Osorio, former head coach of the New York Red Bulls and currently Mexico’s head coach, comes in fifth at 10:1
Vermes is one of eight current MLS head coaches on the list (including Bob Bradley, the former United States national team head coach whose Los Angeles FC takes the field next year as an expansion team).
Current Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch, once an assistant with the national team under Bradley at the 2010 World Cup, is at 12:1 odds.
