In 15 minutes, Beyonce shut down the MTV Video Music Awards in a staggering, emotionalperformance of her “Lemonade” album.
Bey opened with “Pray You Catch Me,” an eerie number that included women next to her dropping dead and a boy in a black hoodie, reminiscent of Trayvon Martin, holding her.
She moved on to “Hold Up” and “Sorry,” showing Beyonce’s more visceral side. She stormed the stage. She cursed. She was angry, singing songs that discussed her husband Jay-Z’s alleged affair. She even smashed an MTV camera. Beyonce ended the show with her hit “Formation,” shutting down the stage with dancers surrounding her in the female gender symbol.
Thanks for the “Lemonade,” Beyoncé.
