Chase Utley will play in Monday night’s NLDS Game 3 against the Mets despite his controversial play in Game 2 in which he broke the leg of New York second baseman Ruben Tejada on a take-out slide at second. MLB suspended Utley for Game 3 and Game 4 of the NLDS due to an “illegal slide” but Utley’s camp has already appealed the situation. It is not yet known when the appeal will be heard. “Chase did what all players are taught to do in this situation – break up the double play,” Utley’s agent, JoeWolfe, told ESPN.
