Mark Wahlberg looks ready to help and Kevin Spacey is pretty much unrecognizable in the first “All the Money in the World” trailer.
Directed by Ridley Scott, the upcoming drama chronicles the infamous kidnapping of late billionare J. Paul Getty’s grandson by an Italian paramilitary group in 1973. Despite having “all the money in the world,” as the film’s title suggests, the wealthy industrialist initially refused to pay the ransom and ended up negotiating a smaller sum – but only after the kidnappers sent a newspaper the cut off ear of Getty’s grandchild.
The film boasts a stacked cast of stars, including what’s sure to be an award-worthy performance by Spacey, who plays the notoriously frugal Getty. The “House of Cards” actor sports a lot of makeup and prosthetics, so it’ll be interesting to see how he pulls off this role.
As for Wahlberg, the Boston-bred star plays Fletcher Chase, an ex-CIA agent and adviser to Getty who is sent to Rome in order to handle the kidnapping. The film features a performance by Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams as well, who plays Gail Harris, the mother of the kidnapped John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer).
Rounding out the rest of the cast, “All the Money in the World” also stars Academy Award winner Timothy Hutton, Romain Duris and Kit Cranston.
