White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who only just took over the top spokesperson position, learned a valuable fashion lesson week: Never wear green on TV.
Solid green clothing acts like a green screen on television. Green screens are solid background in front of which moving subjects are filmed and which allows a separately filmed background to be added to the final image — think weatherman in front of the Doppler radar maps.
Well Twitter, of course, took Huckabee Sanders solid green blouse as an open invitation to turn her body into a green screen — with high merits going to Buzzfeed editor Jesse McLaren, who made a mashup of clips using Huckabee Sanders blouse as a green screen to the delight of his 417,000 Twitter followers.

“Why you never wear GREEN on TV,” McLaren captioned his video clip.
The clip of the White House press briefing featuring Huckabee Sanders speaking at the podium starts off innocent enough, then her blouse turns a darker shade of green, and then turns neon green.
All of a sudden a horse-drawn carriage — a scene from some kind a Western — is playing across Huckabee Sanders chest. Then it’s four people performing a dance segment. Then she is suddenly wearing the infamous white and gold/blue and black dress.
Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio are suddenly dancing on Huckabee Sanders’ shirt, acting out a scene from “The Titantic.”
Then former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer is there on Huckabee Sanders’ shirt and we’re all very confused — that’s the magic of a green screen and a little artful editing.
McLaren’s Twitter followers applauded the 23-second clip.
