As social media becomes the new wanted posted for police departments across the country, a Facebook post pushed an alleged bank robber to turn himself into Weymouth authorities Monday. Jamie J. Smith, 30, surrendered to police Monday morning, not even two hours after the Weymouth Police Department posted his name and photo to their Facebook page, The Patriot Ledger reported. Smith was arrested and charged with the unarmed robbery of Eastern Bank in Weymouth. Police say he had entered the bank around 2:40 p.m. on Aug. 3 and passed a note demanding money. He then fled with an undisclosed amount, according to the department’s Facebook post. “It was the final push he needed to turn himself in and face the charges,” Weymouth Police Captain Richard Fuller told The Patriot Ledger.
