Take a minute to compose yourself. We were startled when he flashed on screen, too. (For those of you catching up, it’s been well established that the beloved TV dad dies, and there was a lot of build-up and sculation about how Jack dies on This Is Us.)
If the theories are right, and it’s a big if, then those flashes of never-to-be future Jack are an indication that Rebecca is sick, potentially dying. (Think Izzy seeing Denny on Grey’s Anatomy before her cancer diagnosis.) Remember that a couple episodes ago they revealed that Rebecca has had a cancer scare in the past, and that might have been leading up to this moment.
Maybe, just maybe, though it was all a dream or Rebecca, or even another character, daydreaming wishfully about what could have been. Keep your fingers crossed that it’s the latter.
