Although the cast of The Big Bang Theory might go down in history (at least for a couple years) as the highest paid TV cast of any sitcom — have you seen how much they make per episode?! — the majority of the buzz right now is about The Big Bang Theory season 11 episode 1 and how it’s almost, almost here.
It’s old news by now that the show is very quickly going to come to an end, despite an insanely successful run, but at least fans have seasons 11 and 12 to look forward to before we all say goodbye. Kaley Cuoco, beloved by fans for her portrayal of Penny, recently weighed in on when she’d like the series to end, saying that although she doesn’t have a specific date in mind she’d like the show to “go out on a high note,” before the series has overstayed its welcome with fans.

Where did The Big Bang Theory season 10 finale leave things?
They say that no great author introduced a gun into a plot unless it’s going to be used. Well, we’re sure the audience of The Big Bang Theory has felt that way about the engagement ring Sheldon’s been toting around since the end of season 8. After a full two seasons, we can’t blame you if you thought he might never end up using it. But, thankfully, you worried for nothing.
The end of season 10 saw Sheldon finally come around marriage-wise, showing up at Amy’s door at Princeton, where she’s been teaching, ring in hand, finally ready to commit. Although the spark seemed to be Ramona Nowitzki’s romantic interest in the often emotionally-stunted germaphobe, the big twist comes at the end of a full season of growth for Jim Parson’s character — making it perhaps a little less shocking than it would have been in season 9.
Doesn’t seem like much of a cliffhanger, until you remember that Amy hasn’t yet given her answer. And she doesn’t know yet that Sheldon didn’t recognize Ramona’s interest in him, which lead to her planting a kiss on him when he finally confronted her about it. Is the mistake, and the resulting smooch, enough to make her say no? That’s what you’ll have to wait to find out.

The Big Bang Theory season 11 starts on Monday, September 25 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS, followed immediately by the premiere of its spinoff show, Young Sheldon at 8:30 p.m. EST. We’re all waiting to see if there are wedding bells in Amy and Sheldon’s future.
