Ancient Karnak was under attack

A suicide bomber blew himself up in the car park at Karnak, an ancient religious site in Egypt that dates back to 1550BC. Two other gunmen were shot dead by police but nobody else was hurt in the attack, presumably designed to damage tourism in Egypt.

South Korea’s PM was grounded by MERS

President Park Geun-hye was meant to be hopping on a plane headed for the U.S. today, but canned the trip after two more died in his country’s MERS outbreak. Schools are closed but WHO says the outbreak is contained and kids are safe to go to their classes.

Sepp Blatter could stay until Christmas

FIFA revealed that the scandal-hit soccer boss who resigned last week, might continue to rule until December, when he’s replaced by a new president. Blatter maintains his innocence and claims he wants to stay to lead the effort to clean up the federation.

Human rights groups slammed Baku 2015

Pakistan executed a man convicted at 15

There were more human rights concerns in Pakistan over the execution of a man who was sentenced to death for murder when he was just 15. Especially since his lawyer says he was tortured into confessing to the murder, and the minimum age for death penalty has since been raised to 18.
