An Afghan soldier killed three Americans in Kabul

The shooting of four U.S. contractors at a military airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, in which three of them died, was said to have been an ‘insider attack’. The Taliban claimed it was behind the hit though no specific motive was given for the attack.

ISIS claimed deadly attacks in Egypt

Islamic State militants based in the Sinai region of Egypt say they were behind a series of bombings that claimed 27 lives. Tensions are rising in Egypt after anti-government violence has erupted in the wake of celebrations of the 2011 uprisings.

Jay-Z spent $56m on a new company

Hip Hop star Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter snapped up Swedish music-streaming company Aspiro for a cool $56m, peanuts, though, for an entrepreneur worth an estimated $520m. It’s the latest in a portfolio of companies that includes sports bars, clothing brands and even champagne houses.

Suge Knight became a wanted man after fatal hit-and-run

The Death Row records founder is the prime suspect in a hit-and-run at a burger joint in Compton. He is wanted for homicide after he drove his red truck over two men, following an earlier dispute on the set of a NWA biopic.

Balloon pilots were on a record-breaking flight

Two balloonists known as ‘The Eagles’ broke the record for the longest distance traveled in a gas-balloon on a trip that set off on Saturday from Japan and flew across the Pacific. Still flying, they expect to land in Mexico on Saturday having broken another record for numbers of hours traveled.
