Who are celebrities rooting for in the 2019 Super Bowl?

celebrity football fans

The 2019 Super Bowl is quickly approaching, and everyone is gearing up for the New England Patriots to take on the Los Angeles Rams. Most football fans are picking sides even if their teams are not in the big game on Sunday. Betting, the love of the sport or the hatred of a rival team motivates many to choose their pick to win. Celebrity football fans are also throwing their hat into the ring and betting on either the Patriots or the Rams. Who are celebrities rooting for in the Super Bowl

Rams

Taran Killam

The SNL alum is rooting for the gold and blue this Sunday and he is not afraid to show his team spirit. Killam has even been called the “Rams biggest celebrity superfan” on the Rich Eisen show.

Killam isn’t just a fair weathered fan either. “My hope is that 30, 40 years from now, when my children are grown up, and they have children of their own, going to the game with Grandpa is something to look forward to,” Killam told ESPN.

Snoop Dogg

Snoop has been very vocal before about his team- he even went on a rant in 2016 about the Rams old head coach Jeff Fisher. “Coach need to go … He don’t know how to coach,” Snoop said in a video. “He ain’t won s—. He ain’t gonna win s—. He need to go. Period.” However, Snoop seems to love Sean McVay and all things are good between the rapper and his team now. In fact, since the Fisher rant, the Next Episode rapper has performed at their halftime show.

Ty Burell

The Modern Family star has been a Rams fan long before he came to Hollywood. “My Rams fandom was born in Oregon, of all places. My father’s family was from Chino, and they would send us Rams hats and jerseys when we were kids, and it became our way of connecting to our extended family. I was a Rams fan long before I watched a game,” he told the Los Angeles Times

Danny Trejo

Actor Danny Trejo has always been a Rams fan- he even used to sneak into the games as a kid. When ESPN asked Trejo how he felt having the Rams back in L.A. a few years ago he could hardly contain his joy. “It was kind of like part of Los Angeles came back. Los Angeles is this huge puzzle, and there was always a piece missing. Our sports team. Our football team. This is a football city, you understand? This is a football city.” Trejo is one of the most outspoken celebrity football fans.

Terry Crews

Crews is not only a Rams fan- he also used to be a Ram. In 1991 the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor played defensive end and linebacker for a handful of teams including the now-LA-based squad. When the Rams came back to the City of Angels in 2016, Crews was front and center during their games, even checking out the “flex cam” during one.

Kendrick Lamar

The Los Angeles native is right in par with other celebrity football fans and he is a huge fan of his hometown team. When the Rams first came back to LA from St.Louis in 2016, Lamar attended the Rams’ first training camp in California and ran a route with a few of the players while there.

Daniel Radcliffe

Radcliffe doesn’t come off like he’s one of the avid celebrity football fans. The Harry Potter actor isn’t exactly a Rams superfan- but he sure doesn’t like the Patriots or their quarterback. “The whole world’s rooting against the Patriots,” Radcliffe said “[Tom Brady] should stop winning things. Take that MAGA hat out of your locker. I feel like that was the moment when we were like, as a country, ‘Oh, c’mon, dude, we all want to be behind you, you’re awesome, don’t put that in there.'” Patriots fans weren’t too pleased.

Chris Evans

Captain America is a huge New England fan, and more specifically he loves the proclaimed GOAT Quarterback Tom Brady. Evans has even fangirled about Brady before while on Jimmy Kimmel. “Yeah, it’s tough because when you see him you’re like, man you are the reason the Patriots get to say what we get to say to anyone who doesn’t like us … I just don’t want him to think I’m not cool,” Evans said.

Mark and Donnie Wahlberg

Is anyone surprised that the Wahlberg’s are Patriots fans? Both Donnie and Mark have been avid fans of the New England team for years. They both are vocal about their support and Donnie recently posted a throwback photo of himself on Instagram holding a personalized Patriots jersey fifteen years ago.

I got this @patriots jersey to celebrate #SuperBowlXXXVIII …. Which I attended 15 years ago! Let me say that sh*t again — 15 f***ing YEARS AGO! It’s closing in on 20 years of this amazing run with #Brady, #Belichick, #MrKraft and the rest of the crew. Everybody keeps saying the wheels are coming off the wagon, but this train just keeps rolling along! It never gets old. It never gets boring. It only gets more and more unbelievable ever single year. #patsnation we are, quite simply, the luckiest sports fans on the planet! Thank you @dharm21 @mccourtytwins @23patrickchung @gronk @edelman11 @sweetfeet @tombrady and the entire 2018/19 @patriots team — for always fighting and never ever giving up! ON TO #SuperBowlLIII See ya there! #LFG

Mindy Kaling

Kaling is rooting for the New England team this Sunday like she’s done for years. Kaling has been very vocal across her social media accounts, especially last year during the Superbowl between the Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Mindy Project star has even claimed her household is divided this year because her daughter is a Rams fan.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck

The Boston natives are obviously rooting for their hometown team this Sunday. In fact, during #DeflateGate both Damon and Affleck defended Brady during a sketch on Jimmy Kimmel. “Let me ask you a question: Who are you gonna believe: Tom Brady, the greatest man in all of humanity? Or a bunch of a–holes on Twitter?” said Affleck’s character. Damon and Affleck are some of the most passionate celebrity football fans.

Elizabeth Banks

Banks has always been a proud “Masshole” and isn’t afraid to show it. Her social media is vocal about her team and she didn’t even let playing the role of a Giants fanatic in the 2006 film “Invincible” ruin her New England pride.

John Krasinski

Krasinski has always been a vocal New England fan and one of the most outpoken celebrity football fans. He simply doesn’t understand why people hate on his team. “I guess you guys hate winning and legacy and dynasty teams,” he said while on ESPN’s His & Hers. “It’s fun to be from a place that has so much tradition and legendary sort of sports stories to tell my daughter one day very soon.”
