New York City public schools will be back in session Wednesday, Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a noon press briefing on Winter Storm Stella operations Tuesday.
“We don’t do it very often for any circumstance. So I am comfortable it was the right decision,” he said about cancelling Tuesday classes.
A state of emergency remains in effect until midnight, the mayor said. Parking regulations remain suspended through Wednesday.

The mayor had called off school for Tuesday ahead of the snowstorm which was projected to bring 12-18 inches of snow, with some estimates climbing as high as two feet.
As of 8 a.m., four inches had fallen in Central Park, but expectations were for up to 8 inches in parts of Upper Manhattan and the Bronx.
This won’t be politically popular, but schools are OPEN tomorrow in New York City.
