While critiquing looks from the Oscars red carpet, Rancic had this to say about Coleman’s long, luxurious dreadlocks: “This hair, to me, overwhelms her. I feel like she smells like patchouli oil. Or weed! Yeah, maybe weed?” Yikes. Well, naturally, Coleman wasn’t too pleased, and she registered her displeasure in a lengthy and well-reasoned rebuttal on Twitter. “There is a fine line between what is funny and disrespectful. Someone said something about my hair at the Oscars that left me in awe,” Coleman wrote. “To say that an 18-year-old young woman with locs must smell of patchouli oil or ‘weed’ is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive.” She then went on to point out numerous other notable people who don dreadlocks:

Rancic, for her part, tweeted that she was totally not referencing race but instead was making fun of bohemians. But man, what did bohemians ever do to her?
Dear @Zendaya, I’m sorry I offended you and others. I was referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!
